Canavan takes Independence campaign tour to islands 8/2/13
Dennis Canavan, the chairman of YES Scotland and former Labour MP, will be bringing the independence campaign to the Western Isles early next month.
Mr Canavan will explaining why he wants a fairer and independent Scotland at public meetings in Uist and Lewis. The events are part of his tour around Scotland.
He will address a public meeting in the Cabarfeidh Hotel in Stornoway at 7.30pm on Thursday 7th March.
The Uist event takes place the following evening from 7pm in the Theatre Room of Sgoil Lionacleit.
SNP MSP Alasdair Allan commented: “Dennis is living proof that the case for Scottish independence crosses traditional party boundaries. He is a powerful speaker who I am sure will make an exceptional case for a Yes vote next year.
“Whichever side people take in this debate, or whether they are yet to make up their minds, this promises to be an event worth coming to.
MP Angus MacNeil, said: “Dennis will be electrifying and I would encourage people, regardless of party or even viewpoint on independence to come along and listen and even take a different point of view.”
