Island thief is jailed 15/2/13
A habitual Stornoway thief has been jailed for 12 months over a string of offences.
Aonghas Iain Smith of 13A Newton Street, appeared for sentencing at Stornoway Sheriff
Court this week.
The 34-year-old stole £700 cash, a quantity of Co-op vouchers, a laptop computer,
jewellery, important personal and legal documents, and two cordless drills, from
a family on Plantation Road, Stornoway, last summer, while acting with others.
In November, he took a ring and a pendant from a house in Aiginish, Point.
That same month, he went off with two TV sets from the Macaulay Road Co-op in Stornoway.
He also stole a cashbox containing £50, a mobile phone and bluetooth headset from
a bus garage on Inaclete Road, Stornoway.
