Woman tried to bite police sergeant              31/1/13

A 31-year-old Lewis woman who tried to bite a police sergeant has been placed on a two year community payback order when she was sentenced at Stornoway Sheriff Court.

Sylvia Diane Maxwell of 33 Macsween Drive, Point, Lewis, was also ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid community service work within 12 months.

Maxwell caused a disturbance at a flat in Elizabeth Haldane Court, Stornoway. She previously admitted behaving in an abusive manner, shouting, swearing and making offensive remarks at the address.

She also accepted attempting to bite and spit on a police sergeant at Stornoway Police Station after being taken into custody, as well as making verbal violent threats and uttering offensive remarks.
