Islander was aggressive when refused entry     29/9/11

A drunken night out cost an island seaman £400 when his case was called at Stornoway Sheriff Court.

Alasdair Gordon of 16 Gleann Dubh, Newmarket, pleaded guilty by letter to resisting arrest and struggling violently with two police officers as well as threatening behaviour.

Fiscal David Teale said Gordon was very drunk and became aggressive and obnoxious when refused admittance to Stornoway Sea Angling club.

He continued his “difficult attitude,” spat and struggled violently when police arrived, said the fiscal.

His lawyer said Gordon’s behaviour was out of character and he had “far, far, far, too much to drink” while on leave after a long period away at sea.

He later returned to the club and police station to apologise to the people concerned.

Sheriff Colin Scott Mackenzie said it would have been very unpleasant experience for the people caught up in Gordon’s behaviour.
