Trial hears drugs found in Stornoway house        18/8/11

Quantities  of cocaine and cannabis were found during a police search on a Stornoway flat, a jury trial at Stornoway Sherrif Court has heard.

Richard Andrew Robertson, 30, of 87 Seaforth Road, Stornoway faces two charges - of possessing and intending to supply cannabis and cocaine.

Stornoway police station received an anonymous telephone tip-off about him, the court heard.

On the stand, constable Andrew MacIver said he and DC Smith were driving past in an unmarked car and spotted Robertson talking on his mobile phone outside his home on the evening of Saturday 19th September.

Robertson was searched on the street and a wrap of white powder, later confirmed as cocaine, was produced from his jacket pocket

His house was raided at midnight that night and a quantity of drugs and cash was discovered in the kitchen and the bedroom.

Both the crown and the defence agreed that Robertson possessed various drugs found in the house, their quantities and value and that he planned to sell them on.

Some £3040 was found in a cashbox in a wardrobe along with cocaine wraps. A further £375 of notes was discovered in the kitchen.

In addition, the cocaine had a street value of £2267 while 21 wraps of cannabis were worth over £600, the court heard. The trial continues.
