Rise in air passengers at Stornoway     15/11/11

Visitors attending the Royal National Mod resulted in a boost in passenger numbers passing through Stornoway airport in last month.

Personnel travelling to work on the new schools’ being built on Lewis and Harris also contributed to the increase in seat sales.

Over 10% extra air passengers passed through Stornoway last month compared to the same period in 2010 says Hial, the airport operator. IT said the rise is due to the Western Isles Schools Project as well as the National Mod.
