Stornoway Airport staff raise charity cash          11/11/11

Stornoway Airport security staff swapped their uniforms for pink attire recently in aid of breast cancer awareness and raised a total of £1,500.

Staff welcomed passengers and visitors into the airport terminal and gave them the chance to enter a specially arranged raffle and tombola in return for a donation to the charity.

Kindly donated raffle prizes offered a host of goodies including jewellery, dinner vouchers, hairdressing vouchers and Harris Tweed amongst others.

Duncan Smith, airport manager at Stornoway said: “The day was a great success and was really well attended. Almost everyone knows someone who has been affected by the disease and we wanted to do our bit and raise as much as we could.

“We are all really pleased with the amount raised on the day and I would like to extend my thanks, especially towards the staff that organised the event, and also to those who donated such wonderful prizes.”
