Stormbound ferries           5/2/13

Western Isles mainland ferries are storm bound tonight (Tues).

Lochboisdale has been without a ferry sailing since Friday due to wild seas. Heavy seas resulted in the MV Clansman being delayed for hours. She plans to sail from Oban until 11.15pm tonight, when the 50mph winds ease and she is cancelling her South Uist leg.

Her morning departure from Castlebay to Oban will be delayed to 9.30am to enable passengers from Uist to get to Barra via the Sound of Barra service.

The MV Finlaggan is weatherbound in Uig and cancelled late replacement sailings on Tuesday evening. The special 6pm run to Tarbert was put off .

However, there will be a one-off 5am run from Skye to Harris on Wednesday morning. Vehicles must check in by 4.15am. The ship will then resume normal timetable for 7.30am.

The MV Hebrides - which kept on sailing through the last two gales - is stuck in Ullapool tonight (Tues). Wednesday’s early morning sailing out of Stornoway is axed. The vessel picks up her runs again at 10.25am from the mainland.

The MV Muirneag has been cancelled again today
