Sporsnis, the multi-facility community centre in Ness, has appointed former Head of PE at the Nicolson Institute and well known athlete Alastair Dunlop as manager.

Mr Dunlop played for Ness FC during its championship era and holds many Scottish and British running awards and has never been beaten in thirty-three Scottish championships.

Sporsnis is now opening during daytime hours, from 9am to 10pm and has slashed membership rates.

Calum Iain Macleod, Sporsnis Chairman said, “Sporsnis is a busy place and with the demand, particularly for the 10-pin bowling, ever growing we owed it to our staff, volunteers and users to appoint a manager to oversee the operation.

“We are delighted to have found someone of Alastair’s calibre for that position. Alastair has many years of experience in sports and community work and has also many years of management under his belt, having been head of department at The Nicolson Institute.

“We hope the new extended opening hours and the reduction in the membership rates will encourage further use of Sporsnis.”
