Surge in SNP membership 16/7/11
The Western Isles SNP Constituency Association
says it has recorded a 20% surge in membership since the party’s dramatic election
win in May.
Constituency chairperson Margaret Martin said it “mirrors the many positive comments from the voters on the performance and achievements of both Angus MacNeil MP and Alasdair Alan MSP. A clear evidence of trust and confidence in the SNP.
Mary Bell Galbraith, Chair of the SNP Uist and Barra Branch said: “5th May 2011 was the day the people of Scotland announced to the world that they were determined to shed the shackles of Westminster by voting in their thousands for the SNP whose minority government had proven their competence and ability during the past four years.
“The huge increase in membership in the Hebrides and throughout Scotland is tantamount to a resounding "Yes" vote in the Independence Referendum."
