Youth cut by shards of glass       7/7/11

A Lewis teenager has been placed on a six month curfew when a youth was injured by flying shards of glass from a bottle he smashed.

Alasdair Murray Macleod of Monard, Lower Barvas, Lewis, previously pleaded guilty to culpable behaviour.

Procurator fiscal David Teale said the 17-year-old had been involved in a minor row with a group of youths in Bayhead, Stornoway in the early hours of Saturday 5th March.

Though the row was resolved, Macleod smashed a bottle against a wall. The rebounding fragments of glass hit a youth on the face, causing minor injuries.

Sheriff David Sutherland imposed an one year community payback order. He was also placed on a 8pm to 6am curfew on Friday and Saturday nights for the next six months.
