A Stornoway woman has raised over £750 to help Western Isles children with autism.

Mary Divers undertook a sponsored skydive jump for the Autism Eilean Siar support group.

She handed a cheque for nearly £567 to the group in addition to presenting an additional £186 of donations.

The initial planned jump in April did not go ahead due to safety concerns over weather conditions. The plane flew to 10,000 ft but the wind changed at the last minute .

A second attempt in July was successful.

Mrs Divers said: “It was an awesome, exciting, scary experience but I am so glad I have completed it.”

Autism is a condition that affects social interaction, communication, interests and behaviour.

The support group normally meets monthly in the Stornoway Retirement Centre.
