Helicopter airlifts child off hill 16/9/11
An ill child was airlifted off the Barvas hills on Lewis yesterday afternoon.
The route to the hill behind Shawbost School was inaccessible for the ambulance and paramedics requested assistance.
The Stornoway coastguard rescue aircraft flew the casualty across the moors to the accident department at the Stornoway hospital around 3pm. The child was later discharged.
