Scottish Parliament community visit to Western Isles          3/2/13

The Scottish Parliament will be holding a number of community-outreach sessions in the Western Isles this month.

The events focus on how the parliament works and how anyone can get involved. This will include information about the public petitions process, which allows people from across Scotland to petition their Parliament about the issues which matter to them.

The Parliament Day aims to take the Parliament out of Edinburgh. It allows people to see the Parliament at work, be it ‘official’ Parliamentary business, or on a less formal level.

It also provides an opportunity for people to meet everyone involved with the Parliament: Members, the Presiding Officer and the staff and aims to inspire local people to take an interest in and engage directly in the work of the Parliament.

Workshops or sessions take place:

Tuesday 12 February, Barra - Castlebay Hotel, 4.00 pm – 6.00 pm & 6.30 pm – 8.30 pm

Wednesday 13 February, Dark Island Hotel, Liniclate, 4.00 pm – 6.00 pm &  6.30 pm – 8.30 pm

Thursday 14 February, Harris Hotel, Tarbet, 3.00 pm – 5.00 pm &  6.00 pm – 8.00 pm
