Salmon farm worker injures fingers    20/9/11

A 25-year-old salmon farm worker badly injured his hand after it was crushed inbetween the sides of two farm boats on Loch Grosebay in the Bays of Harris yesterday.

Due to the problem of distance and time, advice from medics at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary was to get him to hospital as quickly as possible.

The coastguard helicopter raced to the sealoch and airlifted the casualty to Stornoway about 9.30am.

His damaged fingers were treated at the Stornoway hospital.
