Rogue workmen claim to be school builders    8/8/11

Rouge tarmac gangs undertaking poor quality work and disappearing off the island are not linked to the Northern Irish schools’ contractor.

One technique of the rouge workmen is to claim they have spare tar going cheap because it is left over from construction work at the new schools being built on the islands.

The gangs knock on doors and try  to pressurise householders with low prices for tarring driveways. But the work starts immediately and the cost often rises.

Weeds growing though a few months later indicates the poor quality of asphalt but by then the gangs are untracable.

Sgoiltean Ùra and FMP warn islanders to beware of the tricksters.

Warren Wright, Operations Manager for FMP stated “We can confirm that all our bitmac and asphalt surfacing works are being undertaken by Bardon Hebrides.

“Any other persons or companies making representations that they are undertaking black top surfacing works on behalf of FMP on the schools project are false.”
