Rogue door step callers 26/10/11
Rogue door step sales operators are calling on households in Lewis and falsely claiming to work for the Comhairle or Hebridean Housing Partnership (HHP).
They do not work for the local bodies and have no proper ID but offer to measure up windows with a view to a sale to unsuspecting housholders.
A spokesperson for the Comhairle said: “These are not genuine Comhairle or HHP staff. If you are in any doubt ask to see the caller’s I.D.”
An HHP spokesperson said: “HHP do not currently have any contractors carrying out window replacements in or around Stornoway.
“HHP will always notify tenants in advance by letter regarding any planned work to be carried out to their homes . Contractors working for HHP are required to provide photographic identification.”
