Prison for resisting arrest               15/9/11

A Lewis man who aggressively lashed out at police because he was wrongly accused of a crime was sent to jail for four months.

Philip Arnold, 31, of 2 Brue, Lewis, previously pleaded guilty to resisting arrest and struggling violently with two police officers.

Fiscal David Teale said police investigating an act of vandalism went to detain Arnold but he turned aggressive.

Lawyer Kevin Macpherson said he was asleep and woken up by the police officer. He took umbrage at the allegation. He pointed out someone else later admitted causing the damage.
