Racial abuse            21/7/11

A Lewis man who shouted racial abuse at a English neighbour has been banned from drinking for two years and placed on a community payback order.

James Jamieson, 35, of 8 Uraghag, previously admitted the offence which occurred around 10pm on Friday 24th June.

Procurator fiscal David Teale told Stornoway Sherriff Court Jamieson was banging his fists on his chest and shouting in his home.

Solicitor Angus Macdonald supplied letters of reference for Jamieson including one from another English neighbour.

He said his client was “totally contrite” for his alcohol-induced “appalling behaviour.”

Sheriff David Sutherland imposed a two year community payback order including 180 hours of unpaid work and two years alcohol treatment supervision including attendance on the Road to Recovery scheme.
