Northern Constabulary's Corporate Communications Team was awarded runner-up in UK national police awards for the Outstanding In-house Team of the Year. The award was made at the ACPO Association of Police Communicators Professional Awards held in Lincolnshire on 10 November.

The judges Sir Hugh Orde, President of ACPO, Chief Constable Andy Trotter, Chair of ACPO Communications Advisory Group and Nick Keane, Digital Engagement Business Advisor for the National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) shorlisted from 56 nominations of an extremely high standard.

The Northern Constabulary team were recognised and commended for their work in enhancing public reassurance and helping to increase public satisfaction in the Highlands and Islands against a backdrop of financially challenging times.

The team was runner-up to winners of the category, Nottinghamshire Police. Thames Valley Police came third in the award.
