FM – Operations Manager
An employment opportunity has arisen for an Operations Manager based at our Stornoway Office, Isle of Lewis. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day running of the WISP contract.
They will be expected to support their line manager in the delivery of the existing FM contracts and developing the contract base and supply chain within the geographic area.
To directly manage a team of directly employed operatives and FES FM’s supply chain.
This will be achieved via the practical implementation of the company’s management
system and the utilisation of the operations manager’s knowledge and experience,
increasing the quality of output from Engineers, maximising the effectiveness of

The successful candidate will have the following:
- Formal technical education in mechanical/electrical discipline to a minimum of HNC level or equivalent and a minimum of at least 3 years relevant experience in an FM or building services maintenance position of authority.
Or
An experienced tradesperson with at least 5 years post apprenticeship experience in their trade and a minimum of at least 5 years relevant experience in an FM or building services maintenance position of authority.
- A minimum of 5 years post training or apprenticeship practical trade experience.
- A full driving licence.
- Understanding of asset management principals and maintenance techniques.
- Experience of operating a management system i.e. ISO 9001, 14001, 18001.
- A pro-
active attitude. - Good IT/computer skills.
- The ability to manage operatives.
- Excellent communication skills including verbal and the written word.
- The ability to form relationships with clients and to exceed customer expectation.
- Approachable demeanour and a demonstrable commitment to team working.
- A formal H&S qualification i.e. NEBOSH certificate or similar would be useful.
- Practical knowledge of the FM industry in the area.
- A track record of delivering similar contracts in the geographic area.
- Ideally will have client contacts which may be used to develop FES FM’s profile in the geographic area.

contractors and specialist service providers in the area. - A commitment to continuing professional development.
