Man allegedly attacked nurses      27/10/11

A Lewis man has been charged with allegedly assaulting medical staff and police officers at the accident and emergency department of the Stornoway hospital.

The alleged incident occurred on Tuesday evening and George Macaulay of 4 Perceval Road, Stornoway appeared from custody in the town’s court yesterday.

He is also charged with causing a disturbnace, shouting and swearing, lieing on the floor and persistently refusing to get up.

The case was continued and Macaulay was banned from drinking alcohol as a bail condition. He must also give police a breath test on demand. He was also placed on 9pm to 7am curfew until he returns to court.

At the same court, Macaulay admitted failing to obey his tag conditions for a previous assault. He had his curfew extended by three months as a result.
