Some £3124 from a motorbike rally has been raised for a local dementia charity.

The bikers surpassed their original fundraising estimate by a third.

Representatives from the Midge Biters team (above) presented a cheque to the Lewis and Harris branch of Alzheimer Scotland.

A spokesperson for the charity said: "What a fantastic success their event was and we are so very grateful for their support."

In June over 100 bikers came from far and wide to participate in the first-ever motorcycle rally in the Western Isles.

The ride-out put the event firmly on the Scottish rally map.

The run from Stornoway saw a mile-long file of motorbikes taking in the local sights, to Luskentyre and Leverburgh with a detour for some to the Callanish Stone on the return trip.

Ferry company Cal Mac assisted in getting additional bikers across from the mainland.

Local bands provided music for two gigs on Friday and Saturday nights while many island firms and shops donated food and supplies.

Stornoway golf club clubhouse provided the base and also hosted the evening entertainment.
