Mod outdoor concert                  29/8/11

Perceval Square in Stornoway will be the venue for an outdoor music event this Saturday afternoon in aid of this year’s Royal National Mod.

The local organising committee will play host to members from the Northern Branches of An Comunn Gaidhealach who have jointly organised the event and will be providing some of the performers during the day and evening.

Should the weather be unfavourable during the afternoon, the entertainment will be moved indoors to the Royal British Legion.

The line-up for the Perceval Square event will feature Còisir Òg a Bhac, NYCoS Lewis Choir, Stornoway Big Band, Stornoway Melodians, Laxdale Junior Gaelic Choir, Oidhche Chiadain and many more.

Members from the local committee will also be present throughout the afternoon selling tickets for the Mod Raffle, which offers a prize of £1500 Travel vouchers courtesy of Co-operative Travel, £500 spending money and return flights to the mainland courtesy of Loganair, as well as various other prizes.

A  ceilidh and dance will follow on Saturday evening in the Royal British Legion, at 8pm and will feature  Raymond Bremner, Charlie MacColl, Jean Mackay, Ceitidh Smith, Jimmy Cameron and Robert Robertson. A dance will follow with the Iain Alex Campbell Band. The MC for the evening will be Murdo Morrison

There will be a licensed bar and raffle. Entry to the ceilidh dance on Saturday evening will be £7 / £5 concessions. Further information is available on 01851 703 487.
