Mobile phones back on line 18/10/11
Mobile phone and TV signal faults created a massive telecommunications blackout for thousand of islanders over the weekend.
The Vodaphone mobile phone network was down around Stornoway while Freeview users reported getting no TV signal.
Engineers got the system back on line on Monday lunchtime.
The loss of mobile phone calls disrupted communications at the Royal National Mod taking place in the town as stewards were hampered in efforts to chase up competitors running between different events in the various venues.
