I have been a councillor for ten years, representing Benbecula and in addition North Uist for the last five.

In that time there have been many improvements and all to the good. Critics of the Comhairle are extremely negative and blind to the successes we have been able to achieve with reduced government funding and further cuts due in the next two years, totaling nine million approximately.

I’m proud to have been involved in the regeneration of Balivanich, the harbour extension on Grimsay, our New Gym (village hall) the escape road at Muir of Aird and the new school.

Plans are afoot to create a local radio station at the Gym and ward funding has already been set aside to purchase equipment which will enable broadcasts to reach Eriskay and Berneray.

Next, I would like to see a regeneration of the Bayhead area followed by the same at Lochmaddy, starting with the school.

I am standing as an independent having been a member of the SNP for many years, and am no longer allowed, due to party rules

I believe the Western Isles should remain independent of party politics.

Thank you in anticipation for considering me with your vote. Please Vote Martin Taylor on Thursday 3rd May with a ( 1 )
