Coastguards are currently coordinating a search for a man who is missing off Broadbay, Lewis.

 

The man has failed to return after leaving Brevig harbour alone in his small homemade boat at 7am Tuesday morning.

 

The missing boat is three-metre long with a cabin.

 

It is coloured blue and black, three metres long and has an outboard motor.

 

Anyone who thinks they may have seen the missing boat or its skipper since Tuesday morning is urged to call Stornoway Coastguard on 01851 702013.
 

The alarm was raised at 8pm, Tuesday.

 

The missing man did not give details of where he intended to go and does not have a radio or mobile phone with him.

 

It is understood he is not carrying a lifejacket or mobile phone.

 

The Stornoway-based Coastguard rescue helicopter, Stornoway RNLI lifeboat, Coastguard Rescue Teams from across Lewis, police units and Hebrides Inland Rescue are all currently searching for the missing man.

 

Carol Collins, Stornoway Coastguard Watch Manager said: “Sadly we have not found any sign of him or his boat yet.”
