Man rescued as dinghy swept away     6/7/11

A man was airlifted from danger after his lightweight inflatable dinghy was swept away on the westside of Lewis.

Strong winds rendered the small rubber boat out of control and it was blown for about a mile from Arnol to Bragar.

The man was saved thanks to his 11-year-old son raising the alarm.

The boy phoned his mother on his mobile and Stornoway Coastguard helicopter flew to the scene at 1.40pm yesterday.

The father was winched out of the dingy which later washed ashore.
