Loganair takes over charter airline              10/7/11

Loganair is taking over Suckling Airways, the Cambridge-based charter specialist.

Suckling will continue to trade as a separate company when the deal is finalised at the end of July.

Its five Dornier turboprop aircraft are often charted by high profile sports teams, political parties, blue-chip corporate clients and other airlines. The aircraft seat up to 32 passengers and fly throughout Europe.

Until 2007, Suckling traded as Scot Airways.in Scotland,  operating flights from Dundee and Edinburgh to London City. The company has operating and engineering bases at Cambridge, Dundee and London City, employing a total of 60 staff. No job losses are anticipated.

Loganair’s chairman Scott Grier said the acquisition is a “major change for Loganair, but one which reflects our increasing ambition to diversify and expand our business.
