MP Angus B MacNeil has received assurances from Loganair regarding the recent emergency incident at Stornoway airport.

Mr MacNeil contacted Loganair after the aircraft travelling from Benbecula to Stornoway landed on one engine due to a mechanical fault on Wednesday.

Angus MacNeil said: “I contacted Loganair following this incident, asking that they carry out a full investigation into this latest incident, the second in a few months.

“Loganair have assured me that, following a spurious warning, the crew acted correctly to shut down one engine.

“The engine was subsequently found to be fully serviceable however, Loganair have assured me that they are investigating the matter to try and find out why the warning light was activated.

“I am pleased that Loganair have clarified the situation surrounding this incident and that they are continuing to investigate the cause of the problem.”
