Stòras consultation over using windfarm profits     14/1/13

Consultaion Stòras Uibhist is inviting its members to attend a series of public meetings over investing the potential £1million per year that will be generated by the Loch Carnan turbines.

Some 100 potential projects has been earmarked for funding using the revenue from the windfarm.

An interim report on the progress of identifying which projects to implement and how the money should be allocated was made at the Stòras AGM last June.

Stòras Uibhist says it has has worked with HIE, CNES and Cothrom on the consultation process to “ensure that best practice is followed and the community sees the maximum benefit of this revenue stream.”

Meetings take place at Grogarry Lodge, Thursday 17th January from 7.30pm; Stoneybridge Hall, Saturday 19th January at 2pm and in the Dark Island Hotel on Monday 21st January at 7.30pm.

The Loch Carnan windfarm is expected to be commissioned in February and the first revenue is due ot be paid out in November.
