Lifeboat searches for man in sea 15/7/11
A search is under way for a man who was spotted in the sea at Holm Beach by Sandwick, on Lewis.
There is concern for the man’s welfare and Stornoway lifeboat is undertaking a search of the area.
Despite there being footprints on beach there is no trace of any person at this time. He was last seen in the water around 5.45pm
The person is described as being about six feet tall, slim build, aged about 40. He is said to be wearing a black leather jacket and a checked shirt.
Police are appealing for information from or of anyone who may have been walking on Holm Beach this afternoon.
