The Stornoway freight ferry MV Muirneag is expected to sail tonight despite a raft of other ferries being storm bound in harbour.

The MV Clansman is stuck in Lochboisdale. She will depart South Uist some 13 hours later than scheduled and will sail for Oban via Castlebay at 8pm. Weather permitting she is expected to dock at Oban around 6am tomorrow.

The MV Finlaggan is due to sail for Lochmaddy this evening after being storm bound during the day. Her Harris timetable has been cancelled. The next Tarbert sailing is tomorrow afternoon.

Earlier sailings on the Sound of Barra were cancelled. The 3.40pm return sailing from Ardmhor will operate but the last run is liable to be put off.

There will be no ferry on the Sound of Harris today.

The MV Hebrides broke down in Stornoway today. She headed for Ullapool with a double load at lunchtime.
