Heavy weather disrupts sea crossing          29/8/11

The MV Isle of Lewis was catching up on a backlog of traffic today after rough seas forced her to cancel yesterday’s return sailing from Ullapool and today’s early morning run from Stornoway. She was weather bound in the Wester Ross port until mid-morning.

Meanwhile, the deteriorating conditions resulted in a team of seven islanders abandoning their attempt to swim across the Little Minch between Rodel and Skye.

The relay event was cancelled about four miles from Waternish Point about 7.30am on Friday. The group of TalkTalk staff plan on trying again next year to raise funds for Cancer Research.
