Nine month curfew imposed on teenager        18/8/11

A Harris teenager who was involved in two altercations in Tarbert recently has been sentenced to a community payback order for two years. He must also undertake 180 hours of unpaid work and obey a nightly curfew for the next nine months.

Stornoway Sheriff Court heard that Simon Macleod of 16 Steinish, Kyles Scalpay, struggled violently with police officers outside Tarbert police station on 16th July. He also behaved in a threatening or abusive manner and was shouting and swearing.

A few days later, on 22nd July, the 18-year-old refused to leave the Isle of Harris Inn. He admitted threatening or abusive behaviour by shouting, swearing uttering threats of violence. He also struggled with the licencee.
