Loan for Galson wind turbine           24/11/11

Galson Estate community landlord Urras Oighreachd Ghabhsainn has secured a £150,000 loan to back its windfarm plans. The Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES) loan is funded by Scottish Government while Community Energy Scotland supported the Trust to make their application.

The loan will make up a finance package worth £2 million. Lottery Funding is already in place and Galson Trust is working towards securing bank funding for the remainder of the project, by the end of this year.

The project will be a phased development, constructing one 900kW turbine in the first instance.

Lisa Maclean, commercial development manager said: “The CARES loan is vital to our project development and we are very grateful to Community Energy Scotland for their support during the application process. We are one step closer to seeing the project becoming a reality.”
