Gale disrupts ferry sailings         5/2/13

A number of island ferries have been disrupted because of rough seas and high winds in the Minch.

Forecasted northerly winds gusting to 51 mph risks cancelling this afternoon’s sailing of the MV Clansman to South Uist and Barra says Cal Mac.

Today’s sailings on the Sound of Barra as well as on the Sound of Harris are also liable to cancellation.

There is a changed timetable for the MV Finlaggan today after sailings were put off yesterday.   She left Tarbert at 7.30am for Skye and is due to head for Lochmaddy at 11.50am before returning and then going to Harris. However, strong winds may cause sailings to be delayed or cancelled.
