Over 130 Gaelic delegates, incorporating nursery, primary and secondary teachers
and quality improvement officers from all over Scotland, gathered at the Drumossie
Hotel in Inverness for ‘An t-
Teachers also had the opportunity to hear keynote addresses from Antonella Sorace, Professor of Developmental Linguistics at Edinburgh University and Joan Esson, Gaelic Inspector at Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education, as well as information sharing sessions from the BBC education team and the Scottish Qualification Authority.
Delegates also had the opportunity of sharing good practice with their peers and colleagues and contributing to developments in Gaelic Medium Education.
The eve of conference reception was addressed by Dr. Alasdair Allan, Minister for Lifelong Learning with responsibility for Gaelic and Scots, who also launched new Gaelic globes which will be distributed to all schools and nurseries providing Gaelic across Scotland.
The conference was formally opened by Joan MacKinnon, Director of Education and Children’s Services at Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and Chairperson of the Stòrlann Nàiseanta na Gàidhlig Board.
