Schools’ Gaelic debate                    9/11/11

The first round of the 2011 BT Gaelic Debate took place yesterday in An Lanntair Arts Centre in Stornoway.

Twenty teams from nineteen schools across Scotland debated on a wide variety of topics. Ten winning teams from Monday’s competition, as well the two highest scoring losers from Round One, will further demonstrate their debating skills today.

In Round Two, the twelve debating teams will all debate on the same topic; with the four highest scoring teams going through to the semi-finals in Edinburgh at the end of the month.

Round Two will begin in An Lanntair today (Wednesday) at 1.30pm and members of the public are warmly invited to attend.

The twelve teams will all Debate the same topic: “Tha cus saoirsinn aig daoine am beachdan a chur an cèill air làraichean conaltraidh-sòisealta.”
