Fire crews called out 3/2/13
Bayhead fire crew was called to a blaze in a garden shed in Knockintorran, North
Uist, this morning. The shed was destroyed by flames. The alarm was raised at 11.30am.
Meanwhile, the Stornoway to Lochs road was closed while the emergency services deal
with a road accident outside Stornoway on Thursday. A car went off the road by Creed
near the Arnish junction. The casualty managed to get out of the vehicle. No other
vehicle was involved.
A house in Barvas was damaged after a fire caught hold by a cupboard and staircase
early on Wednesday. The adjoining one and half story property was also damaged by
smoke. Fire crews from Stornoway and Ness donned breathing sets to get closer to
the flames. They deployed a heat seeking camera to ensure the fire would not flare
up again.
