Accused failed to appear in court      27/10/11

Sheriff David Sutherland issued a warrant to arrest Liam Aitchison of Lochboisdale when the 16-year-old did not turn up to face a charge that he assaulted or hindered two ambulance technicians who were called out to an emergency he was involved on 24th July in Stornoway town centre and were attempting to treat him. It is alleged Aitchison tried to kick the ambulance staff and was verbally abusive to them. Ironically, Aitchison had need of treatment from ambulance and medical staff when he suffered minor injuries in a car crash on Lewis at the weekend. In court on Wednesday, his lawyer indicated he was relinquishing the case as Aitchison repeatedly failed to respond to his letters.

A warrant has been issued to arrest a Fife man who caused a disturbance at Carloway last month. John Robertson of Glenrothes failed to appear when the case was called at Stornoway Sheriff Court on Wednesday. He previously denied he acted in an abusive manner and uttered violent threats.

A Stornoway youth who was a nuisance to police has been fined £500 at Stornoway Sheriff Court.  His lawyer said Peter Gomez made “a pest of himself” by hindering police as they were arresting someone else in Stornoway town centre in June.
