Drunken fight after locked out    2/9/11

A Lewis resident has been ordered to undertake 120 hours of unpaid work when he appeared at Stornoway Sheriff Court.

Ruslans Raskevics of 64 Plasterfield previously pleaded guilty to a breach of the peace by fighting with his partner on 7th August.

Fiscal David Teale said the 23-year-old had been out drinking. He told his girlfriend he would not be long but phoned her at 2am for a lift. She refused and locked him out.

He was drunk when he arrived an hour later and started banging on the door. He was let in but an altercation erupted when he was told to sleep downstairs.

Mr Raskevics’ lawyer said he “genuinely regrets” his actions and had not touched alcohol since the incident.

Raskevics hopes for a reconciliation and his stay in the police cells and going through the court process was a “shock to the system.”
