Rough crossings for delayed ferries         30/12/12

The MV Finlaggan’s sailings between Skye, Tarbert and Lochmaddy were badly disrupted today (Sun) due to continuing adverse weather. The ferry departed Tarbert around 1.20pm for Skye but had a long rough crossing.

She steered further to the south and made a full turn into the wind for a safe approach after a voyage nearly double the usual time. She left Skye at the back of 5pm - some two hours later than planned. If the weather eases, the intention is to turn around after arrival in North Uist to Skye and, around 9.10pm head for Tarbert.

Neither sailing on the Sound of Barra operated today due to heavy seas. Monday’s timetable depends on the weather.

The Berneray to Leverburgh ferry was also cancelled today.

The MV Clansman sailing has been delayed by four and half hours until 7.40pm tonight. She is due to arrive in Barra at half past midnight (Mon) and in South Uist at 2.15am

She will depart Lochboisdale at 9am, Monday, Castlebay at 10.45am to arrive Oban at 15.35pm.

The Stornoway ferry made good time in choppy seas on her run to Ullapool and is returning tonight.
