For the past five years it has been an honour to represent the people of Vatersay, Barra, Eriskay, and South Uist and I look forward to having this honour with your support for the next term.
As well as getting satisfaction from being part of decisions that have led to much needed works throughout the Ward, I enjoy sharing individual concerns of people and then helping to reach positive solutions.
Many problems often result in a person being financially better off, and that in turn leads to a wee growth in the local economy. I personally feel that there are many among us would like to rent a home who do not apply as they may feel it would be a waste of time as it is felt that there are no empty homes.
Yes, very often when I ask that more new houses be built I am told there is no demand. If everyone who would like to rent a house was to have their name on the official waiting list, this would help me prove the demand is there and would add more weight to the request to attract funding for building.

It has been a tough time for us all as the Government reduces the amount of available funds. The next couple of years will present even more tougher decisions as our wish list grows and the funding is reduced, and I would very much appreciate your vote so that my experience can be used to make sensible decisions.
