A driver who collided into a drystone dyke but failed to report the accident was fined £200. Mairi Macaulay of Tarbert also received six penalty points at Stornoway Sheriff Court this week.
The court heard she was “perfectly sober” and driving people home after a wedding dance in the Harris Hotel when she lost control of the vehicle after momentarily bending down to pick up a lit cigarette the front passenger had dropped.
