Closure threat to community centre               16/1/13

A shortage of people to run the North Lochs Community Centre means the hall may close.

There is a lack of volunteers to replace departing committee members.

A spokesman explained: “At our AGM in November we were unable to form a committee.

“It is imperative that we form a committee at the EGM in order to keep the Community Centre open.

“Our aim is to build an extension on to the centre and restructure the areas within. We would like to involve the groups and members of the community who use the hall in the project in order to satisfy the requirements as best as we possibly can.”

He added: “As a committee we are greatly appreciative of the fact that we can ask for help when we hold weddings and dinners.

“But we are at the stage where we need a boost of fresh faces of any age on the committee - even one new member can introduce a new demographic.

“Many of us who were on the committee are happy to stay on as we have found it rewarding and enjoyable. We hope to see the community centre progress but we are losing a few valuable members that will be greatly missed.”

An EGM to seek a new committee will be held in the hall on Tuesday 22nd January at 7.30pm.
