Comhairle sees red over jamming 10/10/11
The Comhairle fears the military jamming of marine GPS satellite navigational equipment may have affected personal communications over the past few days.
As well as GPS systems being effected there are many reports of failures of internet connectivity, mobile phone reception and satellite TV reception, says the council.
Council leader Angus Campbell, said: “Whilst the total effect of the jamming is unclear, it is totally unacceptable if the MOD’s exercises are causing disruption to island communications networks.
“I will be writing to the MOD to seek clarity on exactly what has gone on here and to seek assurances over future exercises.”
