I have decided to stand for council as an independent as I do not believe that party politics should be involved in any decision making processes from a local council.
We need to protect our frontline services provided by the council. Priorities are amongst others, job creation within our islands, an upgraded infrastructure will follow on naturally within the financial constraints.
We have to tackle SNH and their intent on closing down our islands with their ever increasing conservation area that they intend to impose on us.
The Maillaig/Lochboisdale ferry, RET for hauliers and fairer fuel costs are amongst the issues we have to fight for.
The Scottish Government should have a Minister for Island Communities; our situation as an island community is unique in relation to the mainland population and should be represented at ministerial level.
