Bright lights           8/2/13

Sirs,

I sometimes wonder at the remarks coming out of the sanctimonious inner reaches of our democratically elected council with regard to the savage cuts which they are about to implement.

Can some one explain to me if keeping Bayble School illuminated for ridiculous hours at is about saving money then I fear I'm going around the bend.

On a lighter note, perhaps the NATS beacon at Upper Bayble for directing air traffic safely across the North Atlantic could become redundant and pilots navigating this flight path could use Bayble School as an alternative.

The down side to this is it won’t save the council or the people of the Western Isles money.

Seriously, having spoken to numerous people on Point it would appear that I am not alone with strong views about what could be classed as light pollution.

The playing field is definitely not level and am appealing to the council to address this problem ASAP.
