Parade marks anniversary of the Battle of Britain 19/9/11
The 71st anniversary of the Battle of Britain has been marked by a parade and church service in Stornoway .
Representatives of the army and air cadets, Royal British Legion, Merchant Navy Association, Territorial Army joined former RAF personnel during the event on Sunday.
Lord Lieutenant Sandy Matheson, Deputy Lord Lieutenant Donald Martin, Squadron Leader Alastair Armitstead and Isles MSP Alasdair Allan also attended.
The defining air battle over the English channel went on between June and October 1940. It was a major campaign against the mighty Luftwaffe in WW2 and prevented Hitler from invading Britain.
